Fairway Independent Mortgage Branches in Arizona raise funds to repair local Veteran's home

Vietnam Veteran honored during Arizona stop of the Certified Military Residential Specialist training for Real Estate Professionals.

CHANDLER, ARIZONA, October 9, 2015 -- On Tuesday, October 6, 2015, several Valley based Fairway Independent Mortgage branches hosted the Arizona stop of the Certified Military Residential Specialist training tour presented by American Warrior Initiative (AWI).

AWI and Fairway have committed to touring the country each year to train the Realtor Partners of Fairway in the intricacies and delicacies of working with Veteran Homebuyers and the VA Loan process.

During each stop of the tour a local Veteran and/or Veteran charity is selected to honor, tell their story and receive a donation customized to their needs.

On Tuesday, Fairway and AWI brought to the stage Jerome Buza, a Vietnam Veteran with a military career spanning over several decades and continents. Married nearly 50 years, Mr. Buza and has wife reside in a modest home in the Phoenix area that is in crucial need of repairs their retirement benefits simply can't pay for.

Jerome was selected for this honor by the non-profit organization House of Heroes Arizona (HOHAZ), a charity Fairway in Arizona has committed to support. House of Heroes is a national organization dedicated to the repair and ADA upgrades of Veteran, Police, Fire and EMT's homes.

"We are so honored to have been chosen to participate in this incredible event. I am inspired and motivated now, more than ever, to do more" said Janet Rogers, Co-Chair of House of Heroes Arizona.

House of Heroes Arizona and Jerome received a check for $5,000 to purchase materials necessary for the repairs on his home. All labor on every HOHAZ project is 100% volunteer based and 100% of donations go directly to material costs.

 - Event was held in one of the hangars at Falcon Field with several historic warbirds on display.

- To help present the donation and speak to the audience: Captain Sean Parnell, NY Times Bestselling Author of "Outlaw Platoon"

- Ben Lunak, the recipient from the first Arizona CMRS Event in 2014 stopped by to talk about how his life has changed since he was chosen for a business grant donation.

- Lousie Thaxton, Co-Chair of American Warrior Initiative, personally teaches every class on the #CMRS2015 tour.

- Skyline High School Color Guard was on hand to present the flag.

- Local artist Jeremy Marsh kicked off the event performing "Eyes of a Hero" an original song he wrote for the men and women of American Military.

- Fairway employees prepare for the event.
